Family Togetherness on Turkey Day

thanksgiving20turkeycd101706ksAs you and your family prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving day, Lisa and I would like to share some of our favorite family-bonding activities. After all, there’s nothing like food to bring a family together!

Thanks And Giving is a simple sharing game to get you in the spirit of the holiday. To play, hand a scarf to one of your children and ask him to announce something for which he is thankful. Then have him compliment the person sitting to his left and give her the scarf. The game ends when everyone has given “thanks” and compliments (aka “giving”)!

Here’s one more idea

Questions in a Jar is a great activity any time of the year but especially when you may have a chance to linger at the table.

Place a jar in the middle of your kitchen table. On separate slips of paper, write questions about your children’s thoughts, interests and dreams. Some examples may be

What is the best thing about being the age you are?

What would be a perfect day for you?

If you had three wishes, what would they be?
