An Icy Project for a Sunny Day

1_FullHere’s an easy way to cool off on a summer day and keep the kids busy at the same time.

Fill various size plastic containers with water and add a few drops of food coloring to each. If you like, drop small toys (for your older children) or cereal (for your toddlers) in the water. Freeze the containers overnight. Pop the shapes out of the containers and onto baking sheets. Then have some fun!

What can they build?

I’ve also used small ice shapes as hockey pucks for a game on the driveway. Your baby can play with a piece of ice on her highchair tray. Make sure it’s small enough for her to handle but large enough that she can’t put it in her mouth.

  1. I am coming your way via The Mommy Files! What a great idea! This is a great way to teach older children and little ones (like my son who is only 13 months) will just enjoy the experiment! Thanks!

  2. Great read, Ill come back
