Valentine’s Day: Sibling Craft

Show some love by letting your children create colorful hearts out of clay.

1 ½ cups of salt

4 cups of flour

1 ½ cups of water

Red and blue food coloring

Heart-shaped cookie cutter

  1. In a bowl, mix salt and flour. Gradually add water. Divide the clay into two bowls.
  2. Poke a hole into the top of each dough mound. In the first bowl, place 4-6 drops of red food coloring into the hole. In the second bowl, place 4 drops of red food coloring and 4 drops of blue food coloring (this will create purple). Knead with your hands until colors spreads throughout!
  3. Press the red clay onto a piece of wax paper until it is about 2 inches thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out hearts. Use the purple dough to decorate each heart. You can form the dough into letters or animals or anything you like.
  4. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for 17 minutes at 300!
